in response to Starshine...Thank you I'm still looking although I know I will be able to make the mortgage. PA isn't as high priced in housing as CA. We're only talking a $40,000 mortgage not pad considering most houses in my neighborhood are selling at 75,000+. I'm still working on it. My landlord has agreed on helping with closing costs. I have talked to a lend and found that I qualify for a FHA now all I need is 3 1/2% for down payment.
Thank you for your help, but neither one of the sites will work for me. One is for people with disabilities and theother is for a loan. I don't want to take out a loan for a down payment I think I would end up farther behind with a mortgage and loan payment. Seems like in this state unless your pregnant or have children or elderly the so called middle aged baby boomers are forgotten. This is help for everyone between 18- 35 and 65+ but those of us caught in the middle can't get anything
My husband was sent to jail for a dui no one was injured , no one else was involved Thank God. I do not condone what he did I agree he needs help. but not completely convinced this was the right way for the help he needs. Please don't judge me or him based on this you don't know the man that he is. He was always a loving husband great provider, went to work to work and was praised by bosses and coworkers. He would drop everything he was doing to help someone else. I am left with all the responsibility and will not go into all the heartache, depression, frustration, loneliness that goes with this. Unless you've been in my shoes of have someone close to you in this situation you would not understand.
Less than 2 weeks after he went in my landlord called and said he wanted to retire and sell the house we are renting. We had talked about buying this house in the past and the last promise I made my husband was I would do everything I possibly could to hang on to it. Because he still wanted to buy it when he got out.
It's a small modest home built in the 1920's in decient shape although needs updating. I am getting a great price for it about $40,000 most houses in my area sell for $75,000 - $100,000 My problem is I need money for my down payment and don't know where to turn to get it. We've been living in this house for about 5 yrs I don't know where to turn. I don't have much family, no one with means to help.
I work hard for my money. I work as a caregiver for the elderly many are Alzheimer's patient's although the job is rewarding the pay is not enough to help me out in this situation. The landlord wanting to sell the house is a major surprise and we haven't had the time to really save for this. We put off the idea for awhile when the economy went bad. He wants to put it on the market after the 1st of the year so I don't have much time.
I'm hoping someone(s) can help me with advice and donations. I have enough for closing costs, but not the 10% they want for down payment.
